"Coombe Lodge was originally the home of Sir George Alfred Wills (president of the Imperial Tobacco Company in Bristol). Built between 1930-1935, it is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, dominated by Blagdon Lake, with fabulous views over the Chew Valley.”

The mansion was designed by the distinguished architect Sir George Oatley who, in his lifetime was the creator of many notable buildings in and around Bristol.

Oatley was born in Bristol in 1863 and lived within the city on Great George Street. During his career he was the architect behind many landmark buildings including Bristol Royal Infirmary and several J. S Fry & Sons chocolate factories with a large proportion of his work being commissioned by the Wills family.
