Wedding Traditions #1

Welcome to the first in our series of Wedding traditions.

We have been so privileged to have couples from all over the globe choose Coombe Lodge to host their Wedding. As such, we want to share with you some of the customs we have found to add a touch of tradition to your Wedding. We will start off with probably one of the most well known. Originating in England in the late 1800s everyone knows the rhyme ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’, describing what a bride should wear to bring luck on her Wedding day. However, not everyone knows the final line ‘…and a sixpence in her shoe’.

The ‘eagle eyed’ amongst you will see the sixpence on the sole of this beautiful bride’s shoe and the words ‘I’ & ‘Do’ in blue.
